Discover the layers of history left in ancient Paestum with some of the best-preserved Greek temples. Travel along zigzagging roads with stunning sea views. Explore the rugged coastline riddled with sea caves and cliffs and dazzling aquamarine waters on a boat tour. Wander around in Maratea with its alleys, squares and churches. Get inspired by the largest Carthusian monastery in Italy, Certosa of Padula. Navigate the underground river in the Caves of Pertosa. Admire the undeniably beautiful and crowded Amalfi coast. But don’t even think about leaving without having enjoyed the world-famous delicacies such as genuine pizza, mozzarella cheese and renowned limoncello.

Day 1 / Benvenuti a Napoli

Welcome to Naples, one of Italy's epicurean heavyweights serving up the country's best pizza, pasta and coffee. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Time at leisure and overnight.

Day 2 / Neapolitan treasures

Breakfast. Start the day with a guided visit to the city’s Archaeological Museum hosting a collection of Pompeian frescoes and mosaics, found under the ashes of Mt. Vesuvius. Then on to the Old Town, lively Spaccanapoli – the straight and narrow main street that “splits” Naples in two – with its artisan workshops, squares, cafés and churches. Lunch in a local restaurant to enjoy genuine Neapolitan pizza to the full. The rest of the day is yours to explore as you wish. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 / Paestum, Mozzarella cheese and panoramic Castellabate

Breakfast and departure to the Cilento area. En route stop for a guided visit to the archaeological site of Paestum, the Greek city of Podeidonia, founded at the end of the 7th century BC where you can still perceive the atmosphere of a now remote past. Admire the three Greek Temples, built between the 6th and 5th centuries BC, which together with those of Athens and Agrigento are the best-preserved temple buildings from the classical age. Since 1998, Paestum has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then on to a local mozzarella cheese facility for a cheese tasting and visit. Proceed to Castellabate for some time to relax, dinner and overnight.

Day 4 / Velia, scenic Cilento and boat tour

Breakfast and departure for a visit to the archaeological area of Velia. Then on to the Cilento coast and Palinuro. Lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch board your private boat for an enchanting tour of the Marine beauties of the Cilento coast and waters including some of its famous caves such as the Grotta Azzurra. Proceed to sparkling Maratea. The remainder of the day is yours to relax in a gorgeous coastal environment. Overnight.

Day 5 / Sparkling Maratea

Full day at leisure to relax at the pool or beach or to explore the area. You can climb the steep hill above Maratea to see the ruins of the prior settlement just below Maratea’s Cristo Redentore – the fifth largest Christ statue in the world or spend some time wandering around the Borgo, the charming historic centre of Maratea with its small shops and cafés serving up delicious pastries. Overnight.

Day 6 / Certosa of Padula and the Caves of Pertosa

Breakfast and departure for a guided visit of the Certosa di San Lorenzo in Padula. It is the largest Carthusian monastery in Italy and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. The architectural style is almost mainly baroque, in fact there are very few traces of the fourteenth-century. The complex has about 350 rooms and occupies an area of 51,500 square meters, 15,000 of which are occupied only by the cloister, one of the largest in the world. The Certosa di San Lorenzo, in fact, thanks to its vast extension is second only to the Certosa di Grenoble in France. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, en route to Sorrento visit to the Caves of Pertosa, the only speleological site in Europe where it is possible to navigate on an underground river, entering the heart of the mountain. The guided tour includes a journey of over one kilometre, with 400 metres to be covered by boat along the underground river, to reach the internal waterfall and visit the fascinating with evocative names such as Sala delle Meraviglie, Belvedere, Grande Sala, Sala del Trono, Sala dell'Unione with the "kiss" between stalactite and stalagmite. Dinner and overnight in Sorrento.

Day 7 / Memorable Amalfi Coast

Breakfast. Today you’ll discover the Amalfi Coast, one of Europe's most dramatic shorelines. See the gems of the area with their brightly coloured houses set on towering cliffs above the sea, and the houses in the town of Amalfi built between the 10th and 13th centuries. Then it's on to Ravello, with its stupendous views on the coast. Visit the exquisite gardens of Villa Rufolo, the former residence of several popes. Enjoy your lunch of delightful homemade dishes at a family-owned restaurant. Return to Sorrento and overnight.

Day 8 / The ruins of Pompeii

Breakfast. En route back to Naples, stop for a guided visit to the ancient city of Pompeii, frozen in time after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 immortalized the prosperous town for eternity. Then on to Naples. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight.
